Accounting in the Cloud

Switching to Cloud Based Accounting

Although the transition to a new cloud accounting system can be done at any point through out the financial year, we strongly recommend the switch over at your financial year end. In preparation for this transition you want to be talking to your accountant a few weeks or even months in advance. If your accountant is not supportive of the move to a cloud based application then simply get another accountant.
There are a few cloud based account systems we would recommend:
  1. KashFlow
  2. FreeAgent
  3. BrightPearl
  4. Xero
Established as a global market leader for online accounting, Xero has proved itself amongst UK companies. The route to market has been rapid and stable because of its support from accounting firms up and down the country. Taking on a new accounts system is not something you do every day and, moving to a cloud accounting system, you may only do once in your business life-time. Support is key to a smooth transition so we only seek out the best for our Backload Burner Subscribers. Our Xero Accounts Partner is Mint Accounting.

Online Backup Software Review

Delta Recommended
Having had a bad experience with Online PC Backup that goes under many different "Cloud" names, we had been looking around for other online back up solutions. Like Carbonite, Mozy is one of the early online backup services. We used Carbonite in a multi PC environment and it was easy to use, but Mozy offers stronger features for power users. Mozy now offers a much more friendly and intuitive interface, without losing any of the power.

Online Backup-Free Mozy doesn’t offer folder sharing like DropBox and if you want to stream music or look at a photo galleries in a browser you will need to look elsewhere. Mozy's backup features, however, are excellent. At setup, it asks which file types you want to back up, then searches for them in the most common places in your folders and desktop. It is easy to add or exclude folders with a right-click. Mozy can also be used to copy your backup to an external hard disk as it uploads data, saving you time having to do two backup procedures.

One of the biggest advantages we can see is its free offering of 2GB to the home user or small business computer and one of the main reasons why we recommend it here.
